Steelhawks Signal Caller Ready to Take Flight in 2018

Allentown, PA:  The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the National Arena League announced today the re-signing of the League’s 2017 Most Valuable Player in Quarterback Warren Smith Jr.  The league’s First Team All-NAL Signal Caller took the team to a 9-1 regular season record (Tops in Franchise History), and went on to be honored by the league as its first ever MVP.

Smith Jr led the National Arena League in a number if categories including Touchdown Passes (56), Passing Yards (1963), Total Touchdowns (61), Total Offense (2,053), Completions (169), and Rushing Yards by a Quarterback (100) to name a few.  In the Steelhawks Post-Season Contest, Smith Jr. was 22 of 38 for 277 yards and six touchdown passes.

The Steelhawks leader is ready to take flight in 2018 saying, “I’m excited to announce that I have signed back with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.  I can’t say enough about our ownership, coaching staff, and front office.  It is honestly first class and there is a reason they have been around so long and have had continued success.  We are looking to build off of our great season last year and finish it off with a championship this time.  Also, I can’t say enough about our Fan Base, who in my opinion are the most loyal fans in the league, and it’s a great community that supports us.”

Steelhawks Head Coach Chris Thompson is equally as excited for another season working with Smith Jr.  “Reigning NAL MVP, Warren Smith, is BACK in the Black and Vegas Gold for 2018,” stated Thompson.   “Our awesome fans will love this and I am thrilled to work with Warren again and try to pick up right where we left off this past season and bring home the 2018 NAL Championship.    Warren exemplifies all the characteristics and qualities you look for in a triggerman and it’s exciting to get the opportunity to coach him again.  I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of great players over the years but Warren is arguably one of the best at his position and it’s great to have such a rapport with him.  March can’t get here soon enough”

A flurry of additional exciting player announcements and team news will be made in the coming days, following the Steelhawks First Open Tryout for the 2018 season. Over 50 potential Steelhawks made their way to the Rink in Whitehall to try and impress in front of the Steelhawks brass.
